This action panel measures 24 inches high by 36 inches long. The Peregrine Falcon and Wood Duck are positioned on the panel in the characteristic pose of the falcon hitting the duck inflight. The wingspan on the falcon is 16 inches and the length of the bird is 15 inches. The wingspan on the Wood Duck is 11 inches and the length of the bird is 9 inches. To make these wood carvings even more “Unimaginable” they extend 11 inches out from the panel. That gives the effect of the falcon coming out of the painting to catch its lunch.

Both birds are hand carved out of select Basswood. The feathers on the birds have been reproduced using an ultra-fine woodburning pen. The width of each burn line is slightly smaller than a human hair. That gives the wooden feathers a realistic look.

In addition to the carving and woodburning, both birds have been meticulously painted. The woodcarving, wood burning, and painting combined make the Peregrine Falcon and Wood Duck seem as if they are flying into your living room.

The panel depicts a slow moving river with a little tributary flowing into it. On the bank of the river there is a hunting/fishing barn. The foliage and the decoys on the dock reveal that fall is in the air. The scene extends around all the edges of the painting adding to the three dimensional effect. In creating “Sudden Impact” Wendy and Brian have joined together a two dimensional painting with a three dimensional wildlife woodcarving. Together they have created a space where “Two dimensions meet.”
