Blue Jay

The panel on this colorful piece is 18 inches by 18 inches. The bird is carved from select Basswood and is 8½ inches long and its wingspan is 12½ inches long. The Blue Jay is flying off of a rock and extends outside the panel 6½ inches. The Jay is hand carved and painted realistically. All the feather groups and field markings have been carved, lightly wood burned and painted to replicate the real bird.

The rock the Blue Jay is flying off as well as the rocks on the bottom panel are also hand carved and made of select Basswood. These rocks are detailed to conform to the rocks in painting. And they are seamless, so it looks like they are part of the painting.

The painting depicts a babbling brook with nine small waterfalls coursing through the woods. The vegetation, sunlight and the brook all come together to create a perfect woodland landscape. But what Wendy did to make this a masterpiece, was to create the illusion that the waterfall in the foreground was falling off the panel and into a pool of water. This astonishing touch of painting and imagination is stunning! To add even more realism, Wendy created white foam and bubbles where the waterfall meets the pool. This is a very brilliant and unique way to create, “Unimaginable Wildlife Art.”
