Harris Hawk

This 20 inch round panel features a Harris Hawk standing on a cactus with a Rattlesnake in its talons. The bird and the snake are hand carved out of Basswood. The Hawk is 11 inches long and all the feather detail on the bird has been accurately reproduced.

The hawk is standing on a Rattlesnake waiting for his talons to finish their work. The snake is carved, textured, and painted to look very realistic. And its exposed fangs make it look even more life-like. It’s posed trying to escape, and it extends off the panel 9 inches.

The cactus is hand carved from Tupelo wood and looks and feels very realistic. Even the cactus prickers have been added to give more realism to the piece. The carvings are highlighted by a beautiful desert landscape done in oil. The sunset illuminates the saguaro and the prickly pear bush, and an old broken wagon wheel testifies to days gone by.
