Robin Lane

Robin

This panel depicts a nesting Robin in a suburban setting. It measures 20 inches in diameter. The Robin is 11 inches long and the chick in the nest is 3 inches long. The branch is 17 inches long and the leaves are 1.5 to 3 inches in length. The branch and the leaves extend out from the panel 9 inches.

The branch, the Robin, the chick, and the nest are all made of select Basswood. The Robin is hand carved, and it has been intricately detailed and painted to look exactly like the real bird. All the feather detail has been meticulously reproduced. The little chick is also hand carved from Basswood and it also has been detailed to look very realistic.

The nest is handmade from Basswood excelsior (wood shavings.) The leaves on the branch are made of brass. And all the detail on the leaves are embossed to make them look ultra-realistic. These accents not only highlight the woodcarvings, their realism makes you feel like they are going to move.

In painting the suburban setting Wendy did an exquisite job. She created a unique perspective that puts the viewer in an adjacent tree, looking down at the nesting Robin. The size, color and hues of the neighborhood and landscape are proportioned perfectly to give the illusion of an early summer morning on “Robin Lane.”

This beautiful panel will bring life to any room it’s displayed in. It’s the perfect gift for anyone who loves watching nesting birds.
